Challenge
With a large-scale operation and fulfillment processes connected to SAP ECC, Leroy Merlin faced one of its biggest operational challenges in in-store order picking.
The process needed to reconcile existing systems with a simpler operational experience for the teams responsible for locating, picking, and preparing orders.
Beyond increasing productivity, it was necessary to gain greater visibility into metrics such as average picking time and picker productivity, creating the conditions to improve the service levels offered to customers.
Strategy
Logstore was implemented as an operational layer for order management and fulfillment, connecting digital processes to store operations and Leroy Merlin's SAP environment.
The strategy focused on three pillars:
- simplifying in-store picking operations;
- integrating fulfillment into the existing SAP ecosystem;
- generating visibility into productivity and order processing times.
Execution
Store Fulfillment
Logstore began supporting the teams responsible for picking and packing orders in stores, simplifying one of the most critical stages of the operation.
The new experience allowed operators to perform fulfillment tasks more easily than through standard SAP ECC processes.
SAP Integration
The solution was fully integrated into the SAP ECC environment, including integration with the Warehouse Management (WM) module.
APIs developed between the systems allowed Logstore to connect with Leroy Merlin's existing processes and the handheld scanners used by store teams.
Operational Visibility
The operation began using indicators that allowed for tracking metrics such as: Average picking time and picker productivity.
As a result, teams gained greater visibility into the performance of fulfillment operations.
Fulfillment Optimization
Throughout the evolution of the operation, the combination of Logstore with other initiatives implemented by Leroy Merlin helped create the conditions to significantly reduce delivery times promised to consumers.
Results
5 → 2 days
Reduction in promised order delivery times.
2 days → 2 hours
Improvement in Click & Collect order promise times.
Higher productivity
Significant improvement in order picking and packing in stores.
Greater operational visibility
Tracking of average picking time and operator productivity.
"The improvements in lead times were the result of the joint evolution of Leroy Merlin's operations. Logstore was one of the technologies that helped make this transformation possible."
Impact
More than just digitizing an operational activity, the project made store fulfillment simpler for those who process orders on a daily basis.
By creating an operational layer integrated with SAP ECC, Leroy Merlin was able to combine its existing corporate systems with a more user-friendly experience for store teams.
This evolution has driven productivity gains in picking, improved operational tracking, and helped support a significant reduction in consumer delivery promises, especially for Click & Collect.
